Lineage Lake has two progression gates
The August 23 developer update introduced Lineage Lake at Evolution V and 600 Aquarium Resonance. Both conditions matter. If you have reached Evolution V but your Resonance is below the milestone, a bigger Popcorn balance does not substitute for the missing Aquarium progress.
The same update lists a separate 1 million Twig spend to unlock breeding inside the Nest. Treat access to Lineage Lake and the Nest's breeding purchase as different checks. Read the current purchase prompt before spending; do not confuse a saved Nest tier with the available Twig balance.
Breeding is a later collection system. This guide explains the announced requirements and how to compare parents, but it does not supply an invented fastest Resonance route or pretend that an early-game screenshot shows an unlocked breeding menu.

Prepare owned parents, not just discoveries
Breeding combines two owned fish into a hybrid that inherits bonuses from both parents. A species discovered in the Fishdex is not automatically a fish you still own. Before choosing a pair, check inventory and the individual parents you want to use.
Your choice affects the hybrid's rarity, incubation time and Moneta cost. Those values depend on the selected parents, so read the preview for that pair. A price or timer from another player's pair is not a universal recipe cost. The useful comparison is between pairs available in your own inventory.
Record the bonuses you are trying to combine before looking at Shiny status. If the resulting hybrid does not support your current objective, a rarer-looking parent alone is not enough to make it the better choice. This is a decision checklist, rather than a ranking of every possible hybrid.
Compare the pair before committing
| Check | Question to answer |
|---|---|
| Ownership | Are both intended parents actually in your inventory? |
| Inherited bonuses | Do the displayed effects support your current activity? |
| Cost | Can you afford the Moneta shown for this particular pair? |
| Incubation | What duration does the selected pair display? |
| Shiny parents | Are neither, one or both selected parents Shiny? |
| Capacity | Do you have room for the hybrid you plan to use? |
If the game explains what happens to the parents when you confirm, read that text before proceeding. The update describes combining owned fish, but the wording alone is not a sufficient basis to promise that both parents remain untouched afterward.
Keep fish you intend to compare out of an indiscriminate sale. Use inventory locks and review the sale selection rather than relying on a later memory of which pair you wanted. For the distinction between fish sales and catch currency, see the fishing economy guide.
Catching helps incubation
The developer says catching fish reduces incubation time, with larger reductions from matching species and biomes. That gives your fishing session a second purpose while a hybrid incubates. Inspect the parents and the relevant habitat before choosing where to continue fishing.
There is no exact reduction-per-catch formula in this guide. The pair's current timer and the change you observe after catches are more useful than a made-up guarantee about finishing in a fixed number of casts. Do not assume that all species or every biome supplies the same reduction.
If you use Seagulls, inspect their individual rod and bait choices as well. A companion following Current is a different setup from one deliberately assigned to a specific target. The breeding announcement does not establish an unlimited offline incubation strategy or a universal automation speed.
Shiny parents affect the hybrid chance
The August breeding announcement gives three Shiny-hybrid chances: 0.5% with no Shiny parent, 5% with one, and 10% with two. These are breeding figures from that dated update, not the capture chance of a wild Shiny fish. Check the current pair preview if a later update changes them.
The same announcement says active Shiny hybrids have inherited bonuses that are 25% stronger. Separate that bonus from the chance of producing a Shiny hybrid. A higher chance is not a guarantee, and the announced bonus does not justify inventing a full multiplier formula for every effect.
October's changes to wild Shiny-fish bonus caps should not silently replace these breeding percentages. Capture bonuses and parent-dependent hybrid generation are different systems. Keep the date and the particular mechanic in view when comparing advice.
Capacity and Evolution planning
Hybrid capacity increases from one to two at 1,000 Aquarium Resonance in the August update. That is a later milestone than the 600 Resonance Lineage Lake access gate. Reaching the lake does not immediately establish that you can keep two active hybrids.
Before an Evolution, review the reset checklist. The developer explicitly says ordinary fish inventory resets and Fishdex discoveries persist. It does not follow that every later breeding state has the same treatment; read the current confirmation for any hybrid-specific wording before committing.
The practical order is to verify access, inspect the Nest purchase, choose owned parents, compare their preview, and then fish toward the incubation objective you actually have. That keeps the breeding decision grounded in your current collection rather than a recipe from an unrelated save.
