Giant Ore victories unlock equipment progression
The September 26 content update reworked the Mine with deeper areas and timed Giant Ore challenges. Winning those challenges progressively unlocks Legendary equipment upgrades, and the Legendary upgrades use Gold Ore. Reaching a deeper area, winning a challenge and paying an upgrade cost are therefore related but distinct tasks.
Read the current challenge and Forge panels before deciding what is missing. A large ore balance does not necessarily mean an equipment stage is unlocked, while an unlocked stage does not mean its Gold Ore cost has been paid. This guide helps separate those checks without inventing a boss build or a challenge timer.
Identify the actual blocker
| Situation | First thing to inspect |
|---|---|
| The next Mine area is out of reach | Your current Mine progression and available upgrades |
| A timed Giant Ore challenge remains unfinished | The challenge result and current requirements |
| A Legendary upgrade appears locked | The relevant Giant Ore victory progression |
| An unlocked upgrade cannot be purchased | The displayed Gold Ore cost and your balance |
| You are working on the Geode Helmet | Both the area milestone and qualifying ore breaks |
These checks are a reading order, not a guarantee that every lock has the same cause. Use the exact wording beside the particular upgrade you want. The update describes progressive unlocks; it does not list a complete victory-to-item table or an exact Gold Ore price schedule.
Keep your equipment objective separate from a cosmetic objective. The Geode Helmet requires Mine area 100 and 100 legendary ore breaks across Evolutions. Legendary equipment upgrades are a Forge progression system, not another name for that two-condition helmet unlock.
Prepare for a timed challenge
September introduced charged strikes, ore discovery bonuses and additional mining upgrades alongside the reworked progression. Inspect the upgrades available in your save and the current challenge's timer before entering. Do not buy an upgrade on the assumption that an older guide's route still describes the current Mine.
After an attempt, record what stopped you: access to the challenge, completing it within time, or the next equipment requirement. That is more actionable than repeatedly spending across unrelated upgrades without checking which condition changed.
No exact damage threshold, strike sequence or fastest build is claimed here. The official announcement establishes the existence and role of the timed challenges, but not a universal solution. If you need a specific combat or mining optimization, compare the current challenge display rather than extrapolating from a promotional screenshot.
Gold Ore is not every legendary ore break
Gold Ore is the announced currency for Legendary equipment upgrades. The Geode Helmet's requirement is breaking legendary ores. Do not combine those two descriptions into an unsupported rule that spending Gold Ore increases the helmet counter or that every equipment purchase counts as a qualifying break.
For the helmet, both manual mining and the Crow count toward qualifying ores, according to the October 2 update. For equipment, inspect the Forge's unlock and cost. You can be making progress toward both during Mine play, but one counter should not be used as evidence that the other is complete.
The September update also extended Crow Rebirbs beyond the eighth. That tells an older player that progression continues, but it is not a complete current Rebirb requirement chart. Read the next Crow requirement rather than copying a finished older chart as the present cap.
Deep Mine, coffers and tempering
Deep Mine progression and Mineral Coffers were added in September. Tempering and Eternal Tempering were also introduced for further equipment progression. Treat these as additional systems to inspect when they become available, rather than shortcuts whose costs or rewards can be guessed from their names.
The announcement does not supply an exact coffer loot table, a guaranteed drop rate or a complete Tempering recipe. This guide does not fill those gaps with estimates. Open the current item or upgrade description before spending resources and compare its stated effect with the objective you have chosen.
If your main problem is simply that a Legendary upgrade remains locked, resolve the challenge progression first. Reading every late-game term at once is less useful than identifying the next concrete requirement on the card you want.
Keep an equipment record across other progression
Before an Evolution or platform transfer, export a backup through the official game and record your current Mine area, challenge progression and the equipment you are comparing. A backup is a reference for your state; it is not a promise that any import will safely undo every progression action.
The Evolution checklist lists the categories explicitly named in the August reset announcement. It should not be expanded into a guarantee about every later Mine feature. Read the current confirmation for equipment-specific treatment before committing.
For a web-to-Steam move, use the save transfer guide and avoid choosing between conflicting saves until you understand which contains the progress you want. Separating the transfer from an equipment purchase makes any unexpected difference easier to investigate.
A short Mine progression checklist
Choose one immediate objective: a deeper area, a Giant Ore victory, a particular Legendary upgrade or the helmet. Check access, inspect the displayed requirements, compare the available resource, and then confirm the result after the activity. Return to the Forge when a victory changes what is unlocked.
That loop keeps area milestones, challenge wins, currencies and cosmetics distinct. It also gives you a useful stopping point: if the card requires something you have not completed, continue that named task rather than assuming another pile of ordinary ore solves the lock.
