The third Parrot Rebirb requirement
The September 26 update names a specific condition for Parrot Rebirb III: defeat the Archivist. It also names the result of that third Rebirb: Night Mode, plus another doubling of Skill Point gains. Those are the requirements and rewards to check when the third Rebirb seems unavailable.
The important word is Parrot. This is a companion progression milestone, rather than a numbered Birb Evolution or a nest tier. A screen showing that your bird is at a certain evolution does not by itself show that the Parrot's third Rebirb is complete.
Likewise, the patch gives the Archivist as a prerequisite, not a complete list of every earlier step in Parrot progression. If you have not reached the point where the third Rebirb is offered, keep following the Parrot's current progression. The named boss requirement does not imply that a newly unlocked companion can skip its previous milestones.

Check the track before repeating a milestone
When trying to unlock Night Mode, separate the question into the progression track, the requirement and the reward. This makes it easier to notice whether you are looking at the wrong menu or pursuing an adjacent unlock.
| Question | What the update says |
|---|---|
| Which track unlocks Night Mode here? | Parrot Rebirb III. |
| Which boss requirement is named? | Defeating the Archivist. |
| What happens to Skill Point gains? | They double again. |
| Is Nest Tier IV the same requirement? | No; the nest's announced prerequisite is Birb Evolution VI. |
Begin with the Parrot progression shown on the active save. Then check whether the Archivist requirement has been completed for that save. Finally, check the current third-Rebirb prompt for any remaining condition. This order is more informative than repeating unrelated upgrades because their names also contain a Roman numeral.
If the active save was recently imported or linked to Steam, confirm that it contains the companion progress you expected. The save-transfer guide covers comparison and the documented way to close a progress conflict before choosing a save.
Night Mode and Evolution VI share a boss, not an unlock
The same September update places a new story sequence after the Archivist and adds Birb Evolution VI through that sequence. This explains why the boss can appear in discussions about both Night Mode and the nest. The connection is a shared progression point; the rewards still belong to different tracks.
Parrot Rebirb III → Night Mode is the companion route. New story → Evolution VI → Nest Tier IV is the bird-and-nest route. The developer does not describe one as a substitute for the other. Keep those chains separate when deciding what to pursue next.
There is also an older-save exception attached to the new story: older saves must defeat the Archivist again to trigger it. That wording concerns the new story sequence. It should not be silently expanded into a claim that every player must repeat the boss for every Parrot unlock. Check the current Parrot requirement rather than borrowing a condition from a different system.
If the blocked feature is actually the nest's next tier, the Evolution VI and Nest Tier IV guide owns that route. Finishing the third Parrot Rebirb is not the evolution prerequisite named there.

What the Skill Point reward does and does not tell you
The patch says Parrot Rebirb III doubles Skill Point gains again. That tells you the direction and the announced multiplier change at this milestone. It does not give a full Skill Point formula, a guaranteed rate per minute or a promise that every source of progress is doubled.
Use the named Skill Point reward when comparing the value of this milestone with another objective. Avoid extending it to Wood, ore breaks, nest upgrades or any other resource just because they also involve progression. The announcement specifically names Skill Point gains.
For the same reason, this guide does not claim a universal fastest farming build. A meaningful comparison would need the active game's current conditions and your actual progression. The official requirement is enough to identify the next gate without inventing a combat setup or a timed earning estimate.
The Parrot Totem is a separate feature
The September 26 update also adds the Parrot Totem, which allows the Parrot to keep fighting while Birb explores another map. It adds Parrot Cam with combat statistics and a floating window on supported browsers. These are related companion features, but the patch does not call them the Night Mode unlock.
If your goal is to leave Birb on a different map while the Parrot fights, the Totem is the feature described for that task. If your goal is Night Mode, the named progression gate is Parrot Rebirb III. Asking which behavior you want avoids treating every companion feature as one automatic reward bundle.
The floating-window wording also has a platform condition: supported browsers. A missing floating window on another platform does not, by itself, show that the third Rebirb failed. Keep browser support and progression requirements as separate checks.
If Night Mode is still missing
Record what the active save actually shows: the Parrot's Rebirb stage, the current requirement text, whether the Archivist is defeated and the platform. If the third Rebirb is visibly complete but the advertised reward is absent, those details give the developer a specific contradiction to investigate.
The October 2 update improves Expedition combat and Parrot regeneration while the game runs in the background. It does not announce a replacement for the September Night Mode requirement. Background performance changes therefore should not be treated as a new unlock route.
Do not overwrite the save to test a companion unlock. Check progression first, preserve a backup if you are moving platforms, and use the current official game prompts for any requirement beyond the named conditions covered here.
