Both helmet conditions must be met
The October 2 release update introduces the Geode Helmet and gives two requirements: reach Mine area 100 and break 100 legendary ores across Evolutions. Read the connection as AND. Reaching the area milestone alone is not the complete unlock, and reaching the ore total alone is not the complete unlock either.
The developer also explicitly says that manual mining and the Crow both count. That detail matters if you are trying to decide whether companion mining can contribute to the ore requirement. The announced count is not limited to manual breaks.
The most useful way to investigate a missing helmet is to check the two requirements separately. This avoids treating a late Mine milestone as proof that every ore objective must already be done. It also avoids counting unrelated mining events as legendary ores simply because they occur deep in the Mine.
Keep a two-part checklist
Use this as a comparison checklist for your current save. It is a reminder of the developer's requirements, not a live reader of your account. This website has no access to your Mine progress or ore counters.
| Requirement | What you need to establish | What does not prove it |
|---|---|---|
| Mine area 100 | The active save has reached the named Mine area milestone. | A different save reaching it, or a general impression of being deep in the Mine. |
| 100 legendary ores broken | Enough qualifying legendary ore breaks across Evolutions. | A total for all ores, equipment upgrades, or Gold Ore held as currency. |
First check the area milestone, then check the qualifying ore objective using the information the current game provides. The update does not specify an exact menu path for inspecting that total, so this guide does not invent a counter location. If the interface is unclear, record what it actually shows before asking for help.
A practical note can simply contain the two named goals and the progress you can verify. Keep unknown progress marked as unknown rather than converting it into a guessed number. A checklist is useful because it preserves the difference between a requirement you have met and one you only assume is met.
What counts toward the ore requirement
The developer names legendary ores as the required breaks, and says both manual mining and Crow count. That supports using either of those announced methods toward the requirement. It does not give a conversion rate from other ore rarities or a rule that every mining reward counts as a legendary break.
Keep the terminology exact when comparing the objective with another Mine feature. The September 26 update discusses Giant Ore challenges, Legendary equipment upgrades and Gold Ore. Those names describe other parts of the Mine and Forge; the October helmet requirement specifically describes breaking legendary ores.
For example, owning Gold Ore is not the same statement as having broken a legendary ore. Buying a Legendary equipment upgrade is also not the event named by the helmet requirement. This is a distinction between the words in the two announcements, rather than a new rule about how every Mine system interacts.
The phrase across Evolutions is part of the announced ore condition. Do not rewrite the requirement as 100 breaks during one Evolution. However, the release post does not document every historical-save migration detail or provide a complete explanation of which counter display to use. Follow the current objective text if it gives more specific information.
The September Mine changes are related, but separate
The September 26 update expands Mine progression with deeper areas, timed Giant Ore challenges, charged strikes, discovery bonuses, Deep Mine progression and Mineral Coffers. It also extends Crow Rebirbs beyond the eighth Rebirb. These changes provide context for returning players, but they are not additional Geode Helmet requirements stated in the October announcement.
That update says Giant Ore victories progressively unlock Legendary equipment upgrades and that those upgrades use Gold Ore. It does not say that purchasing one of those upgrades replaces the helmet's legendary-ore-break requirement. Keep the cosmetic objective and the equipment progression distinct when deciding what to check.
This guide does not supply a fastest route to area 100, a recommended damage threshold or a guaranteed legendary ore appearance rate. The linked updates do not establish those numbers. An exact farming claim would need stronger information than the two unlock conditions.
If you reached area 100 but the helmet is missing
Check the ore condition next. Area 100 is only one half of the announced requirement. A missing helmet at that point does not, by itself, show that the unlock is broken. The relevant question is whether the active save also satisfies the qualifying legendary-break objective.
If you have recently changed platforms, verify that the intended save is loaded before comparing progress. Use the web-to-Steam guide to preserve a backup and pause a save conflict. An area milestone remembered from a different copy is not evidence about the currently loaded one.
If both requirements appear satisfied but the helmet is absent, document the two visible milestones, platform and approximate time. Keep that report narrow: “area 100 reached, qualifying ore objective complete, helmet missing” gives the developer more to investigate than “mining is broken.” Do not send account credentials or an unredacted save in a public report.
Helmet, sunglasses and the launch hat are different rewards
The October release adds several cosmetics, including Deal with It sunglasses, the Geode Helmet and a Steam launch-week hat event. Their conditions differ. The helmet's announced Mine objectives should not be replaced with a chat action or a limited-time Steam event condition.
The release post ties the launch-week event to a date window, while the helmet entry states the two Mine requirements without that window. This guide therefore does not apply the hat event's deadline to the helmet. If the developer later changes a cosmetic's availability, consult the newer announcement for that item.
For another late-progression milestone, the Parrot Rebirb III guide explains the Archivist gate for Night Mode. It is a separate task from the helmet's mining objective.
